Fender's Custom Shop Time Machine guitars take you back to a time when models like this Stratocaster were just being perfected. With its ash body, this White Blonde version differs from other 1957 Time Machine models. A thin nitrocellulose lacquer lets the natural wood grain shine through, giving this Strat a special look. The use of ash also gives this solid body its excellent sound characteristics, which of course include plenty of sparkle and versatility. It also adds an air of authenticity to this '57 Strat because Fender has been using ash since the '50s. This Relic version comes with the sort of characteristic ageing you would expect to find on a guitar that has been played for years. This makes every guitar unique, because each Custom Shop model has its own story to tell.

Fender 1957 Relic Stratocaster: construction

The Stratocaster is known for its versatile sound, which is why Fender chose an ash body. This wood type provides high resonance and gives the guitar a clear sound with strong bass and good sustain. The sound of the strings is picked up by three Custom Shop '50s single-coils. These pickups are hand wound to make them as close as possible to the originals from the '50s. The middle pickup has reverse polarity to prevent unwanted noise in the intermediate positions. A quarter sawn maple neck and fretboard are other special features. Thanks to the light V profile, this Custom Shop guitar really feels like a Stratocaster from the '50s.
