General
Fender has expanded its American Vintage series with several new and presently most historically accurate guitar models ever. One of which is this 3-tone Sunburst '65 Jaguar that looks exactly like the old Fender Jaguar guitar from 1965. This was the year that the neck of the Jaguar first featured a thin, round-laminated rosewood fretboard with white bindings and large mother-of-pearl position markers. The Fender Jaguar is characterised by its striking asymmetrical body, its shorter (24-inch) scale length and its special tremolo tailpiece as well as its bright, clear sound that made it such a popular guitar among the more alternative punk and surf guitarists.
Fender American Vintage '65 Jaguar: classic details
The '65 Jaguar Reissue was hand-made in America according to the original specs. It features a lightweight alder body with Fender's new Flash Coat nitrocellulose lacquer and an accurate style and colour Sunburst. The American Vintage '65 Jaguar has two authentically voiced single-coil pickups with two independent tone circuits. Fender also took notice of the smaller details, like the chrome-plated Claw Shield pickup covers, the string vibration damper next to the bridge and the floating tremolo tailpiece with locking button. The accessory black case is also vintage styled with replicas of the original case candy such as the manual, a guitar strap and an instrument cable.
American Vintage series: more accurate than ever before
Along with the American Standard series, Fender decided to give the 2012 American Vintage series a massive update. It has been expanded with new, iconic '50s and '60s models that have a minute vintage accuracy. To get to this point, the guitar giant tracked down and studied specs and details of numerous original vintage guitars. Fender even brushed off the tools of the period to make the result as authentic as possible. Every model has been fitted with new pickups, especially wound after the specifications and sound of the vintage reference models. There's a good reason that these new models represent Fender's famed, 60-year long history in music.
