General
Just hearing the name Tim Shaw is enough for true connoisseurs. Shaw is a humbucker expert who has collaborated with some of the scene's biggest names. For this HSS Strat, Fender and Tim Shaw joined forces, resulting in the Shawbucker - a new pinnacle in Fender's already illustrious history. The ingenious tone controls do both the humbucker and single-coil sounds proper justice.
Construction
The American Standard Stratocaster has an alder body, a maple neck and a rosewood fretboard with 22 medium jumbo frets, a two-way truss rod and a relatively flat (9.5 inches) fretboard radius. Additionally, the vintage-style tremolo bridge is modernised and has only two hinge points. New friction-free steel bridge saddles and a solid steel block add more tone and sustain, and the staggered machine heads allow for optimal pressure on the top saddle without the need for a second string guide, so there is less friction and a more stable tuning.
Pickups
The two Custom Shop Fat '50s single-coil pickups sound deliciously fat and vintage. Furthermore, they produce a higher output than classic alnico 5 single coils, along with slightly more bass and a milder mid range. The Shawbucker gives you the utmost in ultimate humbucker tones and thanks to ingenious volume controls you can have the best of both worlds; the potentiometers automatically run 250K for the single coils and 500K for the humbucker, for optimal use of both types of pickup to give you maximum humbucker power and sparkling single-coil sounds.
