General
Fans of guitar icon Eddie Van Halen will certainly recognise the EVH Wolfgang. At first glance, it resembles an American model, but in fact, this Mexican-made Wolfgang Special is considerably more affordable. Regardless, the electric guitar is equipped with EVH Wolfgang humbucker pickups and a Floyd Rose tremolo with an EVH D-Tuna. As opposed to previous editions, this Wolfgang Special is finished with an attractive arched top, just like its USA counterparts and this particular model comes in a beautifully transparent Burnt Cherry Burst finish.
Characteristics of the EVH Wolfgang Special
The Wolfgang - named after Eddie Van Halen's son - has a compact body and neck with a smaller headstock, all in accordance with the specifications set by the master himself. These features keep the guitar balanced and manageable, while the use of basswood for the body ensures that the instrument has a pleasantly lightweight. The arched top is made using beautifully flamed maple with cream-coloured bindings while the quartersawn maple neck ensures stability. The 22-fret maple fingerboard has a compound radius that ranges from 12 inches at the nut to 16 inches towards the body for effortless bends.
Floyd Rose Tremolo and Wolfgang Humbuckers
The EVH Wolfgang Special is equipped with a Floyd Rose double-locking tremolo bridge and a locking nut, allowing for the most outrageous vibrato effects and dive bombs without detuning your instrument. The EVH D-Tuna system enables you to tune the guitar to Drop D with a single hand gesture and last but not least, the EVH Wolfgang humbuckers mounted on this Wolfgang Special are capable of masses of overdrive and sustain, but can also produce a nice clean tone at lower volumes.
