General
This Duesenberg Starplayer Special is a single cut solid-body guitar that has a bolted-on maple neck instead of an alder one. This is what sets the German Starplayer apart from the usual single cuts that all use mahogany. As we've come to expect from these top-notch guitar builders, Duesenberg makes sure the neck fits like a glove. The body surrounds the neck's heel, a construction that ensures excellent contact and long sustain. In addition, the maple wood type gives it a bit of extra attack and brightness that isn't often heard in guitars of this type.
Duesenberg Starplayer Special Blue Sparkle: versatile
This Duesenberg Starplayer Special Blue Sparkle has its very own pickup configuration. In the neck position, there's a Grand Vintage humbucker, and at the bridge, a Duesenberg Crunchbucker that offers a slightly higher output. The body is covered in a stylish blue sparkle lacquer. Let's face it, this guitar screams rock, but its Multi-Tone control makes it versatile enough to use for any style of music. The humbuckers can also be used as single coils, which makes this guitar even more suitable for a wide variety of genres. In 2003, this guitar won Duesenberg the prestigious 'Guitar of the Year' award.
Fans throughout the world
Deusenberg borrowed its name from the famous 1920s German automobile company that was known for elegance, luxury and mechanical precision. Duesenberg guitars adopted these qualities when they began making guitars in 1986 and have since then paid enormous attention to emulating the details of the art-deco style in their 'Doozy' guitars. All of the hardware on these instruments is developed in-house, resulting in truly eye-catching guitars with a unique sound favoured by many famous guitarists around the world, including Joe Walsh, Glenn Frey, Ron Wood, Bob Dylan, Billy Gibbons, Jon Bon Jovi and Elvis Costello, to name but a few!
