General

The professional Roland R-88 is a high-quality 8-channel recorder and mixer. Thanks to its compact size and light weight (less than 3 kilos), it can easily be transported. Use it during your live performances, or combine it with a video camera to make multi-track recordings on location. The R-88 can write the eight channels directly to an SDHC card or USB memory device in 24-bit/96kHz quality. The second USB port allows you to send audio recordings to your computer.

R-88: eight channels and a stereo mixdown

A 32GB SDHC card can store three hours of 8-channel recordings (plus a stereo mixdown!) in 24-bit/96kHz quality. This great, elaborate recorder supports BWF and iXML meta data as well, which allows for an intelligent, seamless integration with software such as Final Cut Pro and Pro Tools. For each of its eight channels, the Roland R88 offers a 3-band equalizer, a fader and pan control. The large touch-screen allows you to navigate through your settings intuitively.

Connectors

The R-88 enables you to connect up to eight instruments, microphones or other sound sources to its eight XLR inputs. The stereo signal is sent out via two XLR outputs or via a mini jack output. The other six XLR outputs are suited for surround projects, among others things. The mixer is equipped with a professional digital AES/EBU XLR connector and SMPTE timecode connectors, suited for video synchronisation. The R-88 can be powered by means of the included adapter, eight AA batteries, or an external power supply (via the 4-pin XLR input).
