In some cases, the two or four inputs of a standard handheld recorder just won't cut it. To provide you with a fitting solution, Zoom introduce the H6. This 6-channel recorder is equipped with two microphones (X-Y) and four inputs and if needed, the microphone can be removed and swapped out for an optional microphone module.
The Zoom H6: Possibilities
The six channels of the H6 allow for a truckload of possibilities, including two-mic stereo recordings of four close-miked solos or 6-member bands. Sure, bigger and more extensive multi-trackers can do the same thing, but are actually nowhere near as small, practical and portable as the H6. There's a colour display to provide with you an overview of the functions and level-metering, and your recordings can be saved an SD card (not included) for easy file exchange with a PC.

Superhandig, superkwaliteit. Een "gewone" stroomaansluiting (dus niet via usb) had heel handig geweest. Ik mis ook een hoesje, die je bij de H4N wel krijgt én een usb-kabel.

Zeer goed opnameapparaat. Geluidskwaliteit is heel goed, nog een stuk beter dan de H2N die ik ook heb. Erg handig om aanvullende microfoons aan te kunnen koppelen zodat je die meteen als aparte files op de sd kaart hebt. Ik heb 'm gebruikt voor live opnames van m'n band en dat werkt echt super!

Wat is die Zoom toch een fantastisch apparaat. Of je hem nu gebruikt voor podcasts, reportages, bandopnames of voor een interview. Alles klinkt fantastisch. Ondanks dat -ie er wat ingewikkelder uitziet dan de succesvolle H4 en H1, is hij zeer makkelijk te bedienen. Het kleurenschermpje is een leuke toevoeging.
Nadeel: er zit geen hoesje of doosje bij, die zul je zelf moeten aanschaffen.

Unbelievably brilliant price from Bax, making it the great value it used to be before Zoom did away with the extra capsule and "gift box" it originally came with. Arrived before the advertised time, properly packed and protected. The new firmware (now on 2.40) makes it much easier to use the L/R mics for overdubbing, and you can pretty much import your starter file into the Input 1/2 slot in seconds, as long as you have recorded any brief file using 1/2, and then change the name of your imported file to match that, freeing up L/R for overdubbing once you've used the "rebuild project" option. Clear display, much better jog wheel than my old H4N, with much more definite operation. X/Y mic unit much sturdier than H4N, and I like being able to disconnect it and keep it out of harm's way when downloading files to my DAW.

Superhandig apparaat.
Ik heb hem gebruikt voor opnames bij bandrepetities, maar ook bij concerten waarbij ik een line-out van de geluidstafel én het geluid in de zaal opnam. Ook heb ik hem gebruikt als audio-interface en dat werkt ook prima. Het is zo'n apparaat dat alles kan, niet uitblinkt in iets, maar als je financieel beperkt bent een superoplossing.
Voordelen:
- heel flexibel apparaat voor opnames waarbij je je niet kan voorbereiden op de situatie
- supersnel opnamevolumes aanpassen met draaiknoppen
- heel intuïtief menu en makkelijke bediening
- gaat relatief lang mee op batterijen, maar kan ook gewoon op USB-voeding functioneren
- back-up functie op lager volume, zodat je niet continu een oog op de inputvolumes hoeft te hebben
Nadelen:
- voor een audio interface wil je eigenlijk meer kanalen
- ik heb mijn apparaat nu 5 jaar en de rubbercoating desintegreert en wordt plakkerig
- denk goed na welke extra modules je nodig gaat hebben, ze kosten niet niks
