Meinl presents the DDG1-BK, a bamboo didgeridoo that is over 120 cm long. This iconic Australian wind instrument has been crafted from bamboo by the people at Meinl and the intricate decorations stand out beautifully on the black surface. When you play this instrument the right way, you will create the booming, humming sound rich with overtones that didgeridoos are famous for. This instrument provides a multitude of musical possibilities, and regularly playing the didgeridoo is even supposed to help people that suffer from sleep apnoea and snoring. This didgeridoo can therefore be just what the doctor ordered!
Playing the didgeridoo
Playing the didgeridoo can be quite difficult to get a hang of, at first. In contrast to brass wind instruments, for example, your lips need to stay loose if you want to get any sound from the didgeridoo. If you keep your lips tightly together you will get a trumpet-like sound, which is not the way a didgeridoo is traditionally played. To play multiple tones, you will notice that you'll need to control your breathing, which is supposed to be the reason that this instruments helps people who snore or suffer from sleep apnoea.
