General
For a limited time only, the Zoom H5 comes with an MXYH-6 X/Y microphone capsule, a special accessory that will expand the capabilities of this already versatile audio recorder. Mount this mic to the H5 for a substantial boost in the quality of your audio recordings.
Zoom H5: audio recorder
The Zoom H5 is a reliable handheld audio recorder that enables you to make excellent recordings on up to four channels. It has an X/Y stereo mic located at the top, the XYH-5 module, and two XLR/jack inputs on the bottom. The mic is removable, and can easily be replaced with another from the Zoom input capsule. This way, you can use a shotgun model (a directional microphone for video applications) or the practical XLR-TRS module. This separately available module expands the number of XLR/jack inputs from two to four on this battery-powered recorder.
The Zoom XYH-6 X/Y microphone capsule
Zoom's XYH-6 X/Y microphone capsule consists of two matched high-quality unidirectional microphones that can be attached to your Zoom H5 or H6. Mics with a unidirectional pickup pattern are mostly sensitive to audio signals coming from the front, and less sensitive to signals coming from the back and sides. When you play back stereo X/Y tracks in mono, you'll end up with a fuller sound than a single-microphone recording would offer.
