General
For a limited time only, the Zoom H5 comes paired with an MSH-6 mid-side microphone capsule, a special accessory that will expand the capabilities of this already versatile audio recorder. Mount this mic to the H5 for a substantial boost in the quality of your audio recordings.
Zoom H5: audio recorder
The Zoom H5 is a reliable handheld audio recorder that enables you to make excellent recordings on up to four channels. It has an X/Y stereo mic located at the top, the XYH-5 module, and two XLR/jack inputs on the bottom. The mic is removable, and can easily be replaced with another Zoom input capsule. This way, you can use a shotgun model (a directional microphone for video applications) or the practical XLR-TRS module. This separately available module expands the number of XLR/jack inputs from two to four on this battery-powered recorder.
Zoom MSH-6: mid-side microphone capsule
The Zoom MSH-6 is included when you purchase a Zoom H6 handheld recorder and can also be used in combination with the Zoom H5. At first sight, the MSH-6 MS seems to be only a single microphone, but it's actually comprised of two separate microphone elements that have been positioned on top of each other. One of these microphones has a uni-directional pickup pattern, which means it's sensitive to sound coming in from the front and less sensitive to sound coming in from the back and sides. The second microphone has a bi-directional pickup pattern, so it's sensitive to signals coming in from the sides.
