A microphone can usually only be optimised for one particular kind of application. Vocal microphones need to ensure a clear and accurate sound, whereas instrument microphone need to be able to process low frequencies and extremely high volumes. Samson have found a middle way: the high-quality CS microphone is a handheld with two capsules between which you can alternate. The round CS 1 head is fit for vocals, while the flatter CS 2 is perfect for instruments. This is a practical and affordable solution for sound engineers that need to amplify various different kinds of situations.

The neodymium capsules of the CS both have a super-cardioid pickup pattern, which means that the microphone is mainly sensitive at the front so that feedback is a thing of the past! As the CS1 focuses on live recordings of vocals, it produces a very clear sound that excludes handling noise. The CS2 is optimised for instruments with a high SPL, like guitar amplifiers, brass instruments and drums. Even at high volumes the sound won't distort and the CS2 capsule isolates your desired sound source from other sources. All in all, the CS microphone combines two professional microphones in one unit - unscrew, substitute and you are good to go!
