SDHC is the latest development in the SD family, which allows for much greater storage capacity (4 to 32GB). SDHC differs so much from the standard SD card, however, that the SDHC is not backwards compatible: SDHC cards only work in devices that are specifically designed for SDHC. The SDHC memory cards as well as the compatible devices can be recognised by the SDHC logo.

There are three SDHC card speed categories. These indicate the minimum writing speed of the card. There are three classes:

Class 2: 2MB/s (or higher)
Class 4: 4MB/s (or higher)
Class 6: 6MB/s (or higher)

SDHC memory cards are not compatible with all devices with an SD lock.
