If the 7-string and 8-string guitars do not offer you enough tonal range, Ibanez has something for you: the RG9BK. This is world's first production model but no less than nine strings! This guitar is based on Ibanez's most popular model, the RG but has been complemented with three extra strings tuned in the key of B, F sharp and C sharp. This means that the thickest string (0.90 inches) is almost an entire octave lower than that of a 7-string guitar. The Ibanez RG9BK is therefore the perfect guitar for creative and virtuoso guitar players and is a true must-have for fans of Meshuggah, for instance.
Features of the Ibanez RG9BK
The RG9-BK has a basswood body with bolt-on, 5-piece neck made of maple and bubinga. This neck construction doesn't only look good, it also provides the necessary stability to deal with the extra string tension. Because this guitar has a scale of 28 inches, even the lowest notes on the instrument will sound tight and defined. Thanks to the Ultra-9 profile, this wide neck is still surprisingly easy and comfortable to play. The electronics of the RG9BK consist of two powerful IBZ-QM-9 humbuckers, perfect for rougher guitar playing.
