General
Although Paul Gilbert (Mr. Big, Racer X) loves his own Fireman model, he regularly returns to his classic Signature guitar - the Ibanez PGM. The 2015 version is the PGM80P NT Premium, a series that falls somewhere between the Prestige and the regular product line so that you can enjoy a great price-to-quality ratio.
Ibanez PGM80P NT Premium: high-grade sound, light feel
This guitar produces a clear sound that is rich in sustain thanks to a light, RG-styled body made of ash with a naturally-coloured maple top. A five-piece PG Premium neck made of maple and walnut has been set into the body and features a beautiful rosewood fretboard. This wood combination guarantees that typical sparkling Ibanez sound and a very light feel. The painted F-shaped holes give this guitar an extra distinctive look.
Dimarzio and Wilkinson
This PGM80P is fitted with three DiMarzio pickups - the neck and the bridge positions feature PAF Master humbuckers for a quiet and clear, dynamic sound and a PGM single coil can be found in the middle position. With those pickups plus the five-position switch, you have a wide range of sounds at your disposal that can be used for many different music styles. The Wilkinson WV6-SB tremolo allows you to add subtle vibrato effects and yet remain in tune.
