The kind people at Fender thought that Chris Shiflett had deserved some decoration and honoured the musician with a signature model. The Chris Shiflett Telecaster Deluxe was modelled after the Telecaster Chris himself composed out of separate components. Because of his predisposition for country music, Shiflett has always been a fan of Teles. To deal with the rougher sound of the Foo Fighters' music, this guitar was retrofitted with a couple of powerful humbucker pickups. This white Tele comes with an accessory black case with a beautiful screen print of Shiflett's name.
Characteristics of the Fender Chris Shiflett Telecaster Deluxe
This guitar was modelled after Shiflett's favourite: the 1972 Telecaster Deluxe. It is made in Mexico, so therefore surprisingly affordable. The instrument is characterised by its Stratocaster-type neck with large headstock, alder body with two humbucker pickups and a large pickguard. The neck features a 21-fret rosewood fretboard with a 12-inch radius for effortless bends and a comfortably low action. The body has Fender's coveted Arctic White finish as well as a white mother-of-pearl-motif pickguard and a chrome-plated strings-through-body hardtail bridge.
Powerful humbucker pickups
The original Tele Deluxe was equipped with Fender Wide Range humbucker pickups that produce a single coil-like output and clarity. To better suit the Foo Fighters' music, Chris Shiflett opted for a set of more traditional humbuckers with a warmer, fatter sound. Fender especially designed two high-output humbuckers, the CS1 in the bridge position and the CS2 near the neck. Each pickup has its own volume and tone control. A three-position pickup switch allows you to alternate between the sound of the bridge or neck pickup or a combination of both.
