General
The Fender Jaguar is the surf guitar of the sixties. It was highly popular in the surf scene because of its unconventional, asymmetrical shape and its bright, clear sounds. The American Vintage '65 Jaguar is a reissue of this beloved 1965 classic. Every detail of this guitar is exactly like that of the factory-issued original, down from its short-scale (24-inch) neck with laminated rosewood fretboard and large mother-of-pearl position markers to its thin layer of genuine, vintage-correct Ice Blue Metallic nitrocellulose lacquer on both the body and the headstock.
Fender American Vintage '65 Jaguar: distinctive features
In 1965, Fender swapped the thick slab of rosewood on the Fender Jaguar for a thin, laminated rosewood fretboard. From then on, this fretboard featured extra-large mother-of-pearl position markers and white bindings. Additionally, the American Vintage '65 Jaguar is equipped with a floating tremolo tailpiece with a tremolo lock and a string damper next to the bridge. The electronics, like for instance the two authentic-sounding single-coil pickups with Claw Shield covers, and the unique dual tone circuit for Rhythm and Lead guitar sounds, have also been meticulously copied.
American Vintage series: more accurate than ever before
The American Vintage series comprises several iconic Fender models from the '50s, '60s and '70s that are vintage-accurate down to the smallest details. To achieve this vintage accuracy, the specs and details of countless original old Fenders have been carefully studied and examined. Fender even brushed off the tools of the period to make the result as authentic as possible. All of the American Vintage series guitars come with an accessory vintage-style case with replica case candy that includes a guitar strap, an instrument cable, a polishing cloth, instruction booklets and pamphlets of the period.
