Behringer designed the U-PHORIA UMC204HD as the successor to the UMC204 and have fitted it with two microphone/line inputs, a MIDI input and output, and inserts for the mic inputs, making this interface particularly interesting for computer-savvy guitarists. The most important new development is the faster sample rate which has been boosted up to pro-quality 192kHz, 24-bit audio to put professional- sounding studio productions are within your grasp!

The Behringer U-PHORIA UMC204HD: Inputs and Outputs

Compared to the smaller UMC202HD, the UMC204HD has a number of extra inputs and outputs. To be specific, it comes with four extra outputs that are easy to use for monitoring. Controlling the sequencer via an outboard device isn't a problem either, as you can use the two inserts with the microphone or guitar inputs. You can also easily add your favourite effects to your audio signal, and then digitise the signal for your computer. Finally, the headphone output has a direct monitor setting so you won't have any trouble with latency!

Tracktion Sequencer

Behringer designed their own sequencer, Tracktion, for optional use with this interface. Recording, mixing and editing can all be done comprehensively, and just like other popular DAWs, Tracktion also supports VST and AU plugins. You can also use it to host virtual instruments and effects from different parties. When you register the interface on Behringer's website you'll get a free download link for the program.

A noter: Cette carte fonctionne parfaitement sous Linux/UBUNTU (Même pas besoin de l'Ubuntu studio). Véritable Plug & Play. Reconnue directement par le pilote résident (je n'ai rien téléchargé): On branche et ça marche. Par exemple, on retrouve immédiatement ses patates dans Audacity. Temps passé pour la mise en route: 10 secondes... IMPECCABLE!

Important: This interface works perfectly and directly with Linux/Ubuntu OS (Ubuntu standard OK, Ubuntu studio not necessary).Real Plug & Play. Directly recognized by resident driver (I did not downloaded and install anything): Connect and go! For exemple, I get the signal immediately in Audacity. De U-Phoria UMC204HD werkt prima en is in vergelijking met andere interfaces lekker goedkoop. Er zijn wel een paar aandachtspunten die je dan voor lief moet nemen.
- Na installatie van de drivers in Windows 10 staat er bij de apparaatinstellingen een uitroepteken. Als je bij eigenschappen kijkt dan zie je dat alle drivers zijn geïnstalleerd en werken, alleen staat er een uitroepteken bij Behringer UMC204HD 192k Subdevice, wat betekent dat daar geen driver voor is geïnstalleerd. Voor de werking van het apparaat lijkt het niet uit te maken, het werkt verder goed. Na wat speuren op internet geeft men aan dat het probleem in Windows 11 opgelost zou zijn.
- Er zit geen handleiding in de verpakking en deze blijkt ook helemaal niet te bestaan. Het is dus weer even zoeken op Youtube naar video's waar alle knopjes en aansluitingen voor dienen.
Al met al lijkt het tot nu toe een goede koop!
