The 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina is equipped with a 256-Gigabyte PCI-e flash data storage, which reads and writes your files a whole 60% faster than the flash memory from the previous generation of MacBook Pros. That also means that this generation of notebooks starts up faster, that your programs open with impressive speed, and that navigating your desktop is more fluid than ever. The MacBook Pro is furthermore equipped with a 4th generation 2.4GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor. This processor is equipped with the latest Haswell architecture, whereby the computing power of each individual core is used optimally by the 64-bit OS X Mavericks operating system. If you should find that the processor still requires even more power when you're working on your photo, video or audio project, then the Turbo Boost function will give you that extra power so everything keeps running smoothly.
External devices
Despite its small size, you can still connect all of the necessary external hardware to the 13-inch MacBook Pro Retina. The super-fast Thunderbolt port is particularly convenient for connecting up to six Thunderbolt devices such as external screens, RAID arrays, video recording devices and sound cards. You can also make use of all your old FireWire devices and Gigabit Ethernet network via adapters that are sold separately. Furthermore, you also have access to two USB 3.0 ports, a headphone output, an SDXC card reader, a 720p FaceTime HD camera and an HDMI connector.
