The progressive Zero 88 FLX DMX console takes the professional standard to another level. This model places every possible function beneath your fingertips, and next to that, the layout of the control panel has been designed to provide a more-than satisfying user experience - from the banks of faders and buttons to the generous 7 inch full-colour touch-screen display. The Zero 2048 FLX can control up to 2,048 DMX channels: more than enough for the extensive rigs of larger venues and theatres and, since it can be carried under one arm, it's also a great tool for touring lighting technicians.
The Zero 88 FLX
Countless lighting design options are supplied, all of which can be programmed and set up in depth. Essentially, you're getting a level of control that, usually, you'd only get when working with a computer. In fact, you can even hook up an external display monitor via the fitted DVI port and, to support large setups, your fixtures can be organised into groups, even down to a set of pars or moving heads suspended from a specific truss section. But the real perks lie in how easy everything is to access and control.
Fully Flexed
Another great feature of the FLX is the way that colours are selected. Normally, colours are mixed using a set of faders for say, red, green and blue. In place of faders, the touchscreen displays a set of colour bars, much like a drawing programme, so you can work with subtractive CMY colour instead of traditional additive RGB colour. HSV colour is another option and supports precise lightening and darkening to achieve the perfect shade as well as the ability to sweep through the entire spectrum of the rainbow. Doing any of this with RGB would take a lot of manual work, but with HSV, you can do the same thing with just one gesture. Even if you need to match a colour with a fixture fitted with a colour filter, the FLX comes with an on-board library of virtual colour filters from Lee, Rosco and Apollo.
