General
Drum machine, sequencer, synthesizer, looper and MIDI controller; the Zoom ARQ Aero RhythmTrak is all these things in one. It's made up of two components - the Base Station (AR-96) and the removable Ring Controller (AR-96c). The Base Station features 468 drum and percussion sounds, categorised in 50 different kits. There is also room to develop 50 kits yourself, including effects. That's a great starting point, but the Aero RhythmTrak offers so much more.
Wireless MIDI controller
The Ring Controller boasts 96 velocity and pressure-sensitive pads with aftertouch and built-in accelerometer. Using Blutetooth, the Controller can communicate with the Base Station as well as DAWs (PC and iOS). An onboard 3-axis accelerometer allows you to directly operate effects with your movements, which essentially means, how you move the ring influences the sound. Finally, producers can get on stage and interact with their audience with this user-friendly, entertaining device!
Synthesizer
ARQ's audio source is comprised of 70 pre-programmed one-shot sounds, which can easily be adjusted in pitch while being played over the pads. There's also a built-in synthesizer that allows you to create entirely new sounds. For more fine-tuning options, there are 531 oscillator types present, as well as the possibility to add digital effects like filtering, delay and reverb. You can also use the envelope generators and stepped or smooth modulation functions.
Sequencer
Another special addition is the sequencer function. Individual patterns and complete tracks can be built up step for step, or recorded live. The onboard mixer has a volume, mute and solo function. Instruments can be connected to single pads or groups of them, making it possible to create three layers at once. The ARQ can play 33 layers simultaneously while allowing you to adjust the pitch and speed with the touch of a button. 400 patterns can be combined to make an audio loop, and all of this can take place without being connected to a computer.
Looper
The Zoom ARQ Aero RhythmTrak allows you to make loops with its onboard sounds and patterns as well as external audio sources. Simply determine the beginning and ending, change the pitch if desired, choose forward or backwards playback and place every loop on a different button. The looper function will allow you to play back 32 loops at once in the same tempo.
