General
The Greek letter Phi is used to indicate the golden mean, or golden ratio, which is a great metaphor for the Bogner Goldfinger 54 Phi. Everything about this amp signifies pure perfection. You can fine-tune your sound to your heart's content, and the new perspectives the amp provides, where the smallest nuances make a world of difference, will surprise you time and time again. The 54 Phi combo is in many ways identical to the amplifier top version - which is one of the most compact 66W heads available at this time - offering all the same unique features. Switching between 6L6 or 6V6 power tubes (or using both) and different output power levels is no problem with the 54 Phi combo.
Plenty of power in a modest housing
The ability to switch between two pairs of 6L6 or 6V6 power tubes makes this amplifier truly unique, allowing you to use them individually or even combined. Both pairs of tubes have a mute function that allows you to pick and choose which sound you need in any particular situation. When you're practising at home, for instance, or recording some demo tracks, you won't need the amp's full power - the 9W mode will more than suffice. However, when you've got a big gig to play, you'll need at least 27 watts. Luckily, the Goldfinger 54 Phi allows you to switch between 9 and 66 watts, and multiple levels in between.
Boost features and BAX EQ
As if switching power amps wasn't enough, the Goldfinger 54 has another killer feature in the BAX EQ. This allows for not just a well-balanced sound, but it also helps you recreate that classic '50s or '60s sound with ease. Furthermore, with the included foot switch you can select several boos functions, allowing for rich solos or a fat rhythm part with a press of the boost button. Finally, behind the speaker cloth is a gorgeous Celestion Creamback 65 speaker, which is a great addition to the Bogner Goldfinger 54 Phi's already versatile sound.
