The Aphex Project Channel is a class-A preamplifier, equipped with a digital output and a number of outstanding Aphex effects. You can edit your recording signal by means of an optical compressor and Aphex's renowned Aural Exciter and Big Bottom effects. Operating the effects is easy as pie using the front-mounted controls. In addition to a microphone input with phantom power, the Project Channel's front panel also sports an instrument input.

The Project Channel's effects

An optical compressor ensures that the output level is consistent, and the level of compression can be adjusted by means of a ratio knob. The Aural Exciter and Big Bottom processors add richness, warmth and clarity to your sound in a way that can't be achieved with an equalizer. They're a great boost for instruments and vocals alike, and add a larger-than-life quality to your radio/voice-over output. The frequency and effect level of the Aural Exciter and the Big Bottom can both be adjusted independently.

Digital output

Aphex's Project Channel preamp/channel strip is equipped with a digital S/PDIF output, as well as high-grade A/D converters. The latter efficiently convert your analogue signal into digital output, which is then transmitted to your recorder or computer at a maximum resolution of 24 bits/96 kHz.

Fijne channel strip. Zowel compressor als EQ-functies zijn apart aan/uit te schakelen zodat je voor iedere opname de prettigste setting kan gebruiken. Ik was even bang dat de maximale compressieratio van 6:1 te weinig zou zijn voor sommige situaties, maar klinkt lekker zwaar gecomprimmeerd.
Big Bottom en Aural exciter doen wat ze beloven en maken je sound instant vetter en sprankelender, maar lekkerste stand vinden is nog een zoektocht want de verzadiging bereik je al snel en dan gaat je signaal behoorlijk 'scheuren'.

Ik ben zeer tevreden over deze preamp.
Het is nog een beetje uitvogelen op welke settings hij het fijnste klinkt, maar het is echt een preamp met een sound. Met een kleine draai aan de input is een signaal al een stuk ruwer.
De sound van dit apparaat is op en top Amerikaans.
Goede service van bax-shop btw, gewoon keurig de dag na het bestellen op het postkantoor het pakket op kunnen halen.
