General
Since it's so versatile, the cajon is often used as an alternative to a regular drum kit. However, Meinl have put together a much more elaborate and complete alternative to a drum kit or just a cajon with their Meinl Cajon Drum Set. You won't be limited to just using your hands, but your feet can get in on the action too! If you have limited space available, or play a lot of acoustic gigs, this compact kit might be just what you're seeking. It includes a cajon, hi-hat, a pedal, a compact snare cajon on a clamp, a cajon blanket, carrying bag, rutes and a shaker. All in all, you've got plenty to play around with.
Meinl Cajon Drumset: Cajon with Pedals
The foundation of this kit is the Meinl Headliner String cajon, which is made of birch and features a natural frontplate and almond-coloured body. The cajon is played using the included pedal, which has a stable base and a soft foam beater, so it functions like a bass drum. Furthermore, there's the 13" hi-hat which you place on the included Low Hat stand. This stand was designed specifically for use with a cajon, which is why it can be set-up so low. An MCS1-BK snare cajon, meanwhile, functions as a snare drum in this setup, and is best played using rutes or your hands. Of course, you can also play the 'bass drum' cajon that way, opening up even more tonal possibilities.
Accessories
Besides the instruments mentioned above, you'll also receive a few other accessories. To mount the small snare-cajon, a sturdy clamp is included, which can be attached to the hi-hat stand. There's also a cajon blanket (saddle bag) you can place over the cajon which has a few handy pockets for accessories such as the Luis Conte shaker, also included. Finally, there's even a pair of bamboo rutes and a durable cajon bag to complete the package!
