General
The BCA2NT/EBK/M bongo cajon with matte finish by Meinl is a combination between two hand percussion instruments: the bongo and the cajon. How would that work, you ask? Well, this natural-coloured instrument was built like a cajon, despite being smaller, but you play it like you would a bongo. So basically, you will be playing a cajon like a bongo, while it still produces a cajon sound.
Typical cajon sound and rubber wood
Inside the bongo cajon, underneath the low and high-pitched striking areas, you will find two sets of snare wires. These snare wires give you that typical cajon sound. The wood that this bongo cajon is made of comes from the rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis), and it is a supple type of wood that is excellent for use in these types of instruments.
