Tech 21 and King X's bassist, Doug 'dUg' Pinnick have collaborated to design a bass amplifier top that accurately emulates that unmistakable 'dUg' sound. The result is the Tech 21 dUg Ultra Bass 1000. Initially, this top is based on the VT Bass 1000 but has been gifted with a newly developed circuit, has a super clean preamp with compression as thick as that of a guitar amp and high-grade distortion to produce sound as subtle as a steamroller!

Tech 21 dUg Ultra Bass 1000: Combinable Channels

This full analogue, 1000 Watt bass top has two independent channels designed to be used simultaneously by kicking in the 'Mix' button on the included 3-button footswitch. The bottom row of the control panel deals with the compression that can pushed from subtle to almost infinite. A low pass filter dampens any high frequencies that pass a specified point while the 2-band EQ, mid boost and volume pots shape the sound. On the top row, sits the controls for the guitar amplifier: drive, high pass filter, 2-band EQ and volume and to maintain balance between both channels, there's a Master volume pot.

SansAmp XLR Direct Out

For bass guitars with a lower output, a +10dB gain boost pot has been included in the controls of the Tech 21 dUg Ultra Bass 1000. Round the back are two solid Neutrik speakOn speaker outputs and a buffered tuner output for a constant and un-coloured signal to a tuning pedal. Loop in your board using the Pre-Amp Out and Power-Amp In FX loop then use the SansAmp XLR Direct Out to send your careful sculpted sound directly to the PA or mixing desk.
