With 500 watts of power, the Orange OB1-500 has plenty of oomph to flail your trousers! When designing this amplifier, Orange chose to fit it with a double signal path. Many bass players like a rugged edge to their sound, but this mostly detriments the depths of the bass tones. Orange clever solution is to combine two different amps into one, featuring a double signal path that trumps the use of two separate amplifiers. That means you can enjoy a tight, low bass tone with enough bite to hold its own in a crowded mix.

Orange OB1-500: a new type of amplifier

The use of overdrive isn't exactly a novelty in the world of bass guitar amplification, and up until now the complete input signal was oftentimes distorted. However, the OB1-500's separate signals put an end to this folly! Right after the gain control, directly after the input, the signals are separated, funnelling the distorted signal through a two-stage amplifier for some creamy distortion and subsequently blending it with the original signal. You can accurately determine the balance of the mix with the blend control. Moreover, an active 3-band tone control is at the ready to help you fully adjust the tone to your liking. You can make boosts and dips of 10 dB!
