General
The Peavey ValveKing series tube guitar amplifiers have been loved by many guitarists in various genres as they offer the Boutique tube sound quality at an affordable price. Peavey drastically improved their popular amplifiers compared to their predecessors - this is especially true for the ValveKing II 100W Amp Head. You can now effortlessly go from the sound of a Class A to a Class A/B tube amplifier with the Vari-Class knob (previously known as Texture). Additionally, this top-of-the-line Peavey has many great functions, including a TSI tube monitoring system that indicates via LEDs when the tubes need to be replaced.
Features of the Peavey ValveKing II 100W Head
At the heart of this second-generation Peavey ValveKing Head we find three 12AX7 preamp tubes and four 6L6GC power amp tubes to push out 100 watts of pure tube enjoyment. This top has two channels (Clean and Lead) that are both equipped with an independent 3-band EQ and volume control. The Clean channel has a Bright function for added sparkle and a gain/volume boost option on the Lead channel for extra distortion. Additionally, there's a built-in digital reverb and Peavey's Resonance and Presence controls in the master section. You can engage the different channels, the boost and the reverb via optional foot switches.
Power attenuator, line out and USB
The ValveKing series' amps are now equipped with a built-in power attenuator that allows you to switch between 100, 25 and 5 watts, which is great for wonderful tube distortion at lower volumes. Thanks to Peavey's MSDI (Microphone Simulated Direct Interface) you can plug into a mixer or PA system directly, so without the use of microphones. It's also ideal for recordings. Moreover, the ValveKing Head is equipped with a USB port for direct computer recording. And, last but not least, there's an FX loop - that can be activated with an optional foot switch - and two speaker outputs with a 4, 8, or 16 ohms impedance switch.
