To get a unique combination of sounds and wood types, it's best to leave the experimenting to Tama. Here, they present a special three-piece shell set made of both walnut and birch for a unique and brilliant sound. This WBS30RS-LLO Starclassic Walnut/Birch shell set includes a 12 x 8-inch tom, a 14 x 14-inch floor tom and a 20 x 14-inch bass drum; all coated in a marvellous Arctic Blue Oyster finish.

How does this hybrid shell set sound, you ask? Since the birch was used for the outer layers, you're getting a healthy dose of attack and punch while the walnut used for the inner layers adds just the right amount of warmth. Both of the 6mm thick toms are made of four plies of birch and two plies of walnut. Naturally, the bass drum is a little sturdier and features five layers of birch and two layers of walnut for a total thickness of 5mm.

Compact Configuration

This Starclassic Series shell set is especially suitable for drummers who prefer a compact setup without having to lose out on sound or quality. The 12-inch tom is fitted with the Star-Cast Mounting System and a Quick-Lock bracket, and the shells are all equipped with Die-Cast hoops and Evans drum heads. In terms of hardware, floor tom feet and a single Tama MTH1000S tom holder come included with the shell set.
