General
The Alesis Command Kit electronic drum kit offers excellent response and sensitivity, which is largely due to the use of mesh heads for the snare and bass drum pads. These mesh heads allow for a very natural rebound, creating a feel much like that of an acoustic model. Furthermore, the 9" toms and 11" floor tom feature dual-zone pads, allowing you to trigger two sounds. You can even adjust the sounds, so that the rim of a drum can sound like you're actually hitting the rim, or even a tambourine or a cowbell, for instance.
Advanced Drum Module
The Command Kit is powered by the Advanced Drum Module, which puts 600 different sounds at your disposal. To help you get started, Alesis provided 50 preprogrammed kits, but there's room for 20 more user kits. For practice, you can play along to the 60 built-in playalong tracks, and there's even a metronome feature. You can even load your own WAV files using a USB stick. What's more, thanks to the USB/MIDI output, you can connect the module to virtual instruments and recording equipment.
Ready to go
The Alesis Command's various parts are placed on a durable chrome-plated rack with four legs. To help you position your cymbals just right, you'll find boom cymbal arms included with the kit. Of course, it also comes with all the cables you need to connect the various pads to the module, as well as a power adapter to provide that all-important juice. Alesis even threw in a pair of sticks and a drum key, so you'll have everything you need to get started!
