rk 30, rk 35 and rk 36 are the best sounding bluegrass banjo's under a grand, if you want that Gibson earl Scruggs tone, this is staggering at £300, the best bargain you'll ever get on a brand new banjo, I know this model is discontinued now, maybe its because of the colour, slight orange tint to the wood, still looks good but not as classy as darker stained wood IMO, anyone serious abt banjo tone needs to snap on of these up now whist there's still some left

This is probably the best bang for the buck banjo in the world at the moment (£338). It's a real deal resonator banjo with 3 ply maple rim and full flathead tone ring and Recording King know how to make tone rings. It's not far different from a Recording King RK-R35 except for having a tube and plate flange and a no hole tone ring. The tube and plate flange makes it easy to convert to an open back if desired. Unsurprisingly it sounds fantastic with or without the resonator. There are no banjos to rival it in this price range in components and sound.
You will need to know how to place the bridge and some of the hooks holding the head on will need to be tightened which is always the case where banjos don't come setup. This is simple enough and the sort of thing any banjo owner needs to know. There was far less work required here than with other banjos I've bought.
