Fazley Mammoth FNB7718NT 7-String Bass Guitar (Natural)

Livraison rapide et conforme. A ce niveau la rien à redire.
Pour le prix, on a effectivement une basse 7 cordes, avec du son. Mais n'étant pas un novice,
concernant l'instrument, j'ai quelques remarques.
Les mécaniques de tête sont tellement 'cheap' qu'on dirait du plastique, en plus, certaines se touchent quand on accorde l'instrument.
Les pontets même en position la plus basse sont toujours trop hauts et l'action de la corde est démesurée.
La courbure du manche est à reprendre.
Enfin, le sélecteur fonctionnant bizarrement, j'ai décidé de regarder le circuit et la : le câblage est 'spécial'. Comparé à un circuit standard, rien ne correspond. Et la prises jack est connectée en mono, ce qui fait que les piles se vident h 24/24. C'est du 'made in China', faut pas chercher à comprendre.
Voila, un instrument pas cher, mais avec un léger défaut de conception au niveau des pontets, et un câblage à reprendre. Après un réglage par un luthier et un peu de bricolage avec le fer à souder, cela devient jouable et permet de se dérouiller les doigts.

Worst build i ever held in my hand. Atleast 25 different fault, both estethical and functional. Pickup dead, neck angle wrong so string height could not be lowerd to a playable height, pots broken, electronical with faulty wiring, tuners that collide, strings and saddle not centerd on body, faulty monting on bridge with string thru hole where a screw should hold bridge down so the three strings that are not string thru actually raises bridge and will soon fall off..

Mooie basgitaar en veel geluidsvariaties mogelijk dankzij de dubbele voor-versterkers. De lage b snaar in combinatie met de actieve toonregeling geeft diepe sub bassen die alles laten trillen. De bespeelbaarheid is prima.

Wat ik niet helemaal begrijp is de 2-weg schakelaar die eigenlijk zoals aangegeven een 3-weg schakelaar zou moeten zijn want nu doet die hetzelfde als de potmeter waarmee je het voorste of het achterste element schakelt. Verder is de afwerking niet perfect. Bij een basgitaar als deze is het een gegeven dat delen hout met elkaar verlijmd zijn maar de combinatie van nerfrichtingen zijn niet mooi bij elkaar gezocht zoals dat wel op de foto is.

Voor dit geld mag je geen perfect afgewerkte basgitaar verwachten dus hij krijgt van mij toch 5 sterren. Het is een mooie basgitaar met een lekker geluid waarmee veel mogelijk is!

Had this guitar just over a week so these are preliminary thoughts. Firstly it is a cheap guitar by any standards although you actually get a lot for your money. You have to bear in mind that the nearest alternative 7 string bass costs four times as much and personally speaking I doubt I could have justified £800+ on what is a 'non mainstream' bass guitar.



After opening the box I slung the guitar over my shoulder. The small screw holding the bass strap sheared off and I had to replace it with a much stronger screw. I also changed the other strap securing screw as it was of the same size. The guitar was set up remarkably well and little adjustment was needed. The guitar suffers from extreme ‘neck dive’ and I’ve overcome the problem by fabricating a special strap that fastens at the nut [hootenanny style].



It’s impossible to escape the conclusion that this is a really heavy guitar, quite understandably. It’s a bit like playing a railway sleeper! But having said that the sound it produces extends from rich and creamy to bright and detailed. The EQ section is great. I have slight problems with differing string volumes but its not too bad and I’m hoping to overcome that by adjustment. The frets are nicely smoothed at the edges and the feel of the guitar is great. You do need big hands though.



I tried using a standard guitar tuning and there’s merit in doing that but for the time being I’ve gone back to bass tuning as it’s less confusing for me. All in all I think that it’s a huge amount of guitar for a very inexpensive price and great fun instrument with which to experiment. I don’t regret buying it and I'm looking forward to extending my bass playing.
