This is exactly what the Heritage Audio Tubesessor has been designed to do. Set the Attack/Release pot to 'fixed' and you can't put a foot wrong. Even when working with extreme gain reduction, the sound of the Tubesessor retains sweet musicality. In manual mode, it's a completely different story. With fast Attack and Release settings, the audio can be 'smashed' - in the most positive sense of the word - while the Tube Saturation and Side Chain Filter provide the more contemporary and logical additions to the blue Danish monster the Tubesessor has been based on.
