General
Mackie's MR6mk3 is an attractive reference monitor that's relatively compact in size, but has powerful components and enough amplification power to properly do its job in a large studio. Part of the third generation of the American brand's MR monitor series, the MR6mk3 offers 65 watts of RMS power. As Mackie has carefully selected the right components and materials for this studio monitor, you'll be able to enjoy tight sound and a reliable reproduction of your mixes.
MR6mk3: appearance
With a sleek black finish and a Mackie 'running man' logo that lights up in green, the MR6mk3 is a real looker. Its sound characteristics are determined by a 1-inch silk tweeter and a redesigned waveguide, which make your treble range sound incredibly open and transparent. Reflections and diffractions, meanwhile, are reduced to a minimum, resulting in a wider sweet spot (the place between the monitors where the stereo image is experienced as it is intended).
Components
Protected by a cabinet made of sturdy MDF and finished with black vinyl, the Mackie MR6mk3 features a woofer that’s 6.5 inches across - a respectable size that guarantees an effortless bass reproduction. As the monitor's frequency range extends down to 46 Hz, there's no need for an additional subwoofer. The interior of the cabinet is fitted with acoustically absorbing materials, and a rear-mounted bass port uses the radiation from the rear of the woofer cone to extend the speaker's low-frequency response. In short, the Mackie MR6mk3 is a versatile powered reference monitor that delivers a good deal of sound for a reasonable price.
