An Authentic Replica
The development process of the MXR RR104 Randy Rhoads Distortion+ was just as special as the result. The MXR team visited the Musonia School of Music, which was set up by Randy's mother, Delores Rhoads in 1948 and is now run by his brother, Kelle. This is where, for the first time in 42 years, Randy's sister Kathy allowed the MXR team full access to his pedalboard. The result of an in-depth study and analysis of Randy original Distortion+ stompbox, this pedal comes closer to that unmistakable Rhoads sound than ever.
An Effective Recipe
When Randy Rhoads first started blending flowing legato passages with catchy melodies it caused a rock revolution. The tonal recipe that made all of it possible was actually pretty simple: place an MXR Distortion+ right in front of an overdriven valve amplifier and rip it up! Any die-hard fans will also appreciate the polka-dot finish of this special edition pedal, which mimics the paint-job of the iconic V-model that Karl Sandoval built for Randy way back when.
