Squier 60th Anniversary Classic Vibe 50s Stratocaster

2014's the year of the Fender Stratocaster's diamond anniversary and a great time to pay tribute to the most iconic instrument in music history. Squier (by Fender) took the opportunity to issue an Anniversary model: the Squier 60th Anniversary Classic Vibe '50s Stratocaster. It brandishes a beautiful Aztec Gold gloss lacquer and gold-coloured hardware to show that it's not like the others.

Anniversary Squier: past and present

On this guitar, past and present make a powerful combination. The neck and fretboard are made of maple, just like in the Strat's early days. The neck profile is a modern C, with a fretboard radius of 9.5 inches. This Squier is incredibly comfortable to play. The sound is picked up by three Custom Vintage single-coils that can be controlled via the trusted 5-way pickup switch.

Engraved neck plate

Besides its beautiful finish, you'll pick this anniversary Squier from a line up by its single Butterfly string guide, its vintage-style strap buttons, the Aged White knobs and pickup covers and the laser-engraved neck plate. The laser engraving says '1954 - 2014, 60 Years', which is a fitting reminder of the Strat's anniversary. The price is still very Squier-like. It looks and feels like a premium instrument, so the price tag is bound to be a pleasant surprise.
