General
The attractive burl grain in the poplar top of this Ibanez Soundgear SR800 in matte Black Ice Flat finish is prominently visible. Its headstock is also decorated with the same type of poplar burl. The top of this bass lies on a mahogany body, which adds warmth to the sound of this 4-string SR800-BIF. The 5-piece jatoba and bubinga neck has a sturdy construction, but is thin enough to play very comfortably and deliver a surprisingly long sustain.
Ibanez Soundgear SR800 Black Ice Flat with Bartolinis
This Ibanez Soundgear SR800-BIF features two Bartolini MK1s pickups. There are three controls available to either boost or cut the low, mid and high tones, and the centre can be adjusted anywhere between 250 and 600 Hz by means of a mid-frequency switch. The Ibanez Custom Electronics 3-band equalizer is good for a broad range of sounds. Incidentally, the mid-switch can also be used as a booster. Emphasis on the low or high tones is ideal in live situations, as some types of music require this.
