General
The Jazz Bass has set the standard for bass guitars for years. Fender regularly issued modified and special editions of this bass guitar. This American Vintage Jazz Bass in 3-colour Sunburst is an exceptional instrument. This model was carefully and accurately built to resemble the 1964 Jazz Bass so that you can play with the feel of the past - with the same sound and spirit.
Fender American Vintage '64 Jazz Bass: 'former' glory, durable construction
A notable feature of the '64 Jazz Bass is its slender, C-profile maple neck with a rosewood fretboard and Clay Dot position markers to guide you along the twenty frets. These frets are relatively low and narrow, complying with vintage specifications. Another striking element is the chrome-plated hand rest above the middle pickup, which offers you the much needed support during intensive playing, like slapping for instance. The massive bridge cover also has a chrome finish, as well as a Fender F. The two volume controls and the tone knob are black.
Tone and looks
Naturally, the distinctive Jazz Bass sound is also produced by this American Vintage '64 version. Two single-coil pickups were specifically designed for this model and produce a full, warm tone from the middle and bridge position. The arm rest and the bridge cover subtly hide these pickups from sight. The dark, 4-layer pickguard has a glistening texture and the rest of the body features a distinct, warm 3-colour Sunburst finish. This Fender American Vintage '64 Jazz Bass is a carefully crafted Fender that was modelled after the looks and sound of the Jazz Bass from the sixties.
